the awesome photo I didn’t get to take

    By Lily | September 20, 2011

Readers, I was so excited. I had a photo planned that would showcase the epicness of several thousands of Ohio State students and 1,000+ student organizations descending on the Oval for the involvement fair…I was planning to climb to the 12th floor of Thompson library, which overlooks not only the entire Oval but a good portion of eastern campus, and take an aerial shot. How sweet would that have been?! But then, at 8am yesterday morning I was awoken by the dulcet tones of 595,600 Minutes from RENT–a phone call from one of the other leaders in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. After trying my best to hide my morning voice, I stumbled out of bed and over to my laptop to check my email because apparently no one was on the oval for registration. And here, my worst fears were confirmed:

In my three previous involvement fairs, I’d experienced a rainy/muddy Involvement Fair and two sunny ones, but never one indoors.

Well let me tell you, it was still epic, in a sauna-like fire-hazardous kind of way. I’m pretty sure the square footage of the Union is less than 1/4 that of the Oval, and the Oval already gets packed during the Involvement Fair. But sadly I wasn’t able to take a photo. All I can say, incoming students–hope and pray for sun for your first involvement fair!
