OSU The PRactice, a Student-Run PR Firm

Written by    Oct 11, 2018

After joining PRSSA last fall (read more about PRSSA here + here), I joined The PRactice second semester. The PRactice is Ohio State’s student-run public relations firm affiliated with PRSSA. It gives students the chance to apply what they learn at PRSSA meetings to real world clients. Yes, The PRactice has real, paying clients; many are Columbus companies and some are different schools or departments […]

As a student in Media, Marketing and Communication Scholars (MMC), one of the main “career” components of the program is project group classes. Project group classes are taught by MMC upper-level students and meet once a week in Morrill Tower.  They focus on learning a skill related to the media, marketing and communications industry. The old dorms on north campus are great, okay?

Written by    Sep 4, 2018

When I tell people I live in one of the old dorms on north campus, I get a look. When I then proceed to tell people that I wanted an old dorm, I get an even stranger look. Truthfully, I think the old dorms of north campus—Barrett, Haverfield, Norton etc.—are the best dorms. They have the greatest setup on campus, they’re a nice size, and they have […]

How to “do it all” and still get 8 hours of sleep

Written by    Jul 31, 2018

College is overwhelming. There are lots of opportunities that you are encouraged to try, lots of difficult classes that take up much of your personal time, and not as much money in your pocket as you are used to. Trust me, I get it: I am currently a pre-med double major who works two jobs, volunteers each week, studies for the MCAT and serves as president […]

5 things that are “worth it”

Written by    Jun 7, 2018

Around summertime, especially if you’re an incoming freshman, you have a lot of emails coming in about a lot of decisions you need to make. What meal plan, where you’ll live, if you’ll life with someone you know, what classes to take, yada yada yada. It’s hard to decide what choices you should take a risk on, and with what choices you should just go […]

Senior Week

Written by    May 24, 2018

At the end of the semester, I usually found myself leaving campus as quickly as possible, but with graduation and training for my internship, I got to see and experience all of the craziness that happens during a senior’s final week as a student. The week kicked off with a craft night, where seniors were invited to decorate their caps. As you can see, mine […]

Commencement Week

Written by    May 7, 2018

I’ve always wondered what graduating students do in the week in between finals and commencement. In past years, I’ve gone home soon after my last final was over, so I’d never been around to witness campus emptying out and becoming quieter. But now that it’s my turn to graduate, I’m finally learning what goes on during the week!

Rainbow Celebration

Written by    May 1, 2018

Last week, I started out my graduation celebration by attending Ohio State’s Lavender Rainbow Celebration, the celebration for LGBTQ students graduating from Ohio State hosted by the Ohio State Multicultural Center and Scarlet and Gay, Ohio State’s LGBTQ alumni group. I can’t believe that it was finally my turn to be part of the graduating class at Rainbow Celebration!

Exploring Columbus: German Village

Written by    May 1, 2018

Another place in my city that I’ve never visited is German Village, despite hearing a lot of great things about it. Since it’s just a 10 minute drive from campus, I headed over to the area with a friend to see what all the hype was about. Our first stop (and biggest priority) was The Book Loft. I’ve heard it’s big enough to get lost […]

Endless Opportunities

Written by    May 1, 2018

Although I’m only a First Year student, I already feel so many doors have been opened for me here at THE Ohio State University. When transitioning from high school to college, it’s easy to think some things are meant to be left in the past. However, I’ve found I’m still able to express myself through the endless opportunities this university has to offer. As I’ve […]
