WELD Keynote Speaker, Thasunda Brown Duckett, CEO of Chase Bank

Written by    Mar 26, 2019

Last Thursday I had the opportunity to attend a Women for Economic and Leadership Development event downtown, where Thasunda Brown Duckett, CEO of Chase Bank,  spoke. Thasunda, known by most as “T,” spoke about her childhood and the hard work she’s put forth to get to where she is today. T shared how she diversifies her life portfolio by spending time on the things that […]

Landing the Internship: Reflection

Written by    Mar 26, 2019

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve accepted an internship with Paycor in Cincinnati this summer. I’ll be working with their internal communications team on multiple initiatives and helping to plan Paycor’s annual sales kickoff. I couldn’t be happier, and I am so thankful to my parents, mentors, peers and professors who have helped me through this process. It looks simple and easy when students start […]

The STEP Expo

Written by    Mar 5, 2019

Two weeks ago I completed a project that had been ongoing for the last year and a half. I’m talking about the Second-year Transformation Experience Program (STEP) project, which gives Ohio State sophomores an opportunity to pursue internships, study abroad programs and leadership or community and service projects. During sophomore year STEP participants go to weekly meetings to discuss their career paths and identities. They also attend […]

TEDx Ohio State

Written by    Feb 26, 2019

Did you know that mosquito saliva has a numbing effect, which is why you don’t notice when you’re bitten? Neither did I … until I heard Dr. Bharat Bhushan speak about bio-mimicry on Saturday. This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend TEDxOhioStateUniversity, where thirteen members of the Ohio State/Columbus community gave talks about a variety of topics. The mission of TED is to […]

Ohio State’s Special Collections Library

Written by    Feb 25, 2019

Something I love about Ohio State is that no matter how long I’ve been here I’m always finding new things on campus. Today, I got a peek into the school’s special collections, which, as a lover of books and literature, is so freaking cool. They have exclusive and minimally-circulated works collected in the basement of Thompson, in a temperature-controlled room not open to the public—but you can reach […]

BuckeyeThon 2019

Written by    Feb 11, 2019

FOR THE KIDS!!! That’s BuckeyeThon’s motto and driving mission. BuckeyeThon is the annual 24 hour dance marathon to fight pediatric cancer by raising money to fund research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. This year more than 2,000 Buckeyes raised over $1.7 million. In November students sign up, join a team and pledge to raise at least $250 for the cure. This may sound like a lot, […]

Saying Goodbye Pt. 1: The Last Semester Bucket List

Written by    Feb 4, 2019

It’s crazy, and it’s weird, and it’s a little (read: a lot) sad–I’ve come to my last semester of college. There’s a lot to say simply about coming to this point (and I plan to get to that soon). But for right now, I want to alleviate some of the winter blues by making a “Last Semester at Ohio State” bucket list of things to do […]

Spring 2019 Career Fair

Written by    Feb 4, 2019

Welcome to #internshipszn and #careerfairszn, every student’s favorite time of year. Here are some tips to help you succeed.  Practice your elevator pitch. This is something I struggle with, but being able to sell yourself can make a huge difference in this kind of setting. Share about your leadership role, a previous internship or an industry you want to go into. Always get a business […]

Two Thumbs up for Poke Bros

Written by    Jan 29, 2019

Living off campus, I spend a lot of time scouting out the best places to eat on High Street when I don’t feel like cooking for myself. Earlier this month, searching for good food became a little bit easier when Poke Bros opened across from north campus, enabling me to walk to the restaurant pretty much in a straight line from my house. Although there were […]

You are What You Eat (Pt. III)

Written by    Jan 29, 2019

What’s one thing all college students have in common? We’re always hungry. One of my favorite meals is from the rice bowl station at Curl Market. For $7.95 (five cents shy of a swipe) you can get a pretty substantial and yummy meal. I order rice, chicken, lettuce, carrots, edamame and cucumbers. They also offer mushrooms, tofu and scallions. I don’t like my bowl drenched […]
