Why Ohio State Engineering?

Written by    Mar 21, 2017

Since March is a pretty pivotal month for college decisions, I really want to focus on potential incoming engineers. I was fortunate enough to have a few people to give me student advice, and I want to add my opinion to the mix, both because I don’t think the university description quite covers it, and I’m just selfish like that. If you’re anything like me, […]

The Truth About RAs: Real Talk

Written by    Mar 9, 2017

Movies do a really poor job of showing us what resident advisors are like; they’re portrayed as no fun, stuck-up, and out to get residents at every turn. This couldn’t be more wrong. I have talked to a lot of people that dearly cherish their RA, and I myself have grown fond of mine. Especially now that many of my friends are getting ready to […]

BuckeyeThon 2017

Written by    Feb 16, 2017

BuckeyeThon 2017 was an absolute success! I had zero idea what to expect as I’d never participated before, but overall I’m proud and humbled by the Ohio State community’s ability to rally together to raise money for kids with cancer. We raised over $1.5 MILLION For the Kids!

Squirrels on Campus: the underrepresented minority

Written by    Jan 23, 2017

As of autumn 2016, Ohio State enrolled* 6,437 foreign students, 1,308 veterans, 29,505 women, and 29,977 men. Among those enrolled, 5.4% were African American, 6.34% were Asian American, and 3.98% were Hispanic. Additionally, there is a large percentage of squirrels on campus. Though the least represented minority, the squirrels are arguably the most noticeable feature of Ohio State’s unique campus atmosphere. They add a certain vibrancy […]

New *Semester*, New Me

Written by    Jan 9, 2017

Ugh…it’s time to accept that winter break is over. There’s nothing to be done to make it last any longer (besides skipping your classes–but don’t do that, folks). I’m not one for big, sweeping new year’s resolutions. But, on the eve of a new semester, I’ve found myself considering a few changes I’d like to make so that this semester is better than the last. […]

Hi, Dad) Unlike the rest of my entries, this one was written approximately a week later, following Christmas (things have been hectic, I’m sorry, you understand? I hope? If not, it doesn’t really matter, all of them […]

Ben’s STEP Adventure- Day 2

Written by    Dec 27, 2016

Tuesday New Bedford and Salem 6:30 a.m. Praise the Lord/Buddha/Vishnu/your respective deity that we finally got to sleep in (relatively speaking). Luckily, our hotel’s bathroom window didn’t close fully, so we had a lovely juxtaposition between the 40 degree bathroom and the 85 degree bedroom, causing me to wake up in a sweat (and not the usual kind I get from dreams or eating too […]

Christmas break as told by a major-less freshman

Written by    Dec 27, 2016

It’s Christmas! You’re back in your hometown for a few weeks, the longest you’ve been home in months. If you live anywhere like me, meaning a small town, then you’re probably experiencing the same phenomenon as me. Everywhere you look, everywhere you go, you see someone you know (because you know everyone, and everyone knows you). You make that fatal eye contact in the grocery […]

Night at the Art Museum

Written by    Dec 20, 2016

Guys, I am ready for class. You know. Classy stuff. Classy entertainment. Classy food. I am ready for something different and cool but not painfully hipster. Now, let me tell you that I am by no means an artist. Or an art critic, for that matter. To this day I believe my art sculpture from the fourth grade did not burst in the kiln but was […]
