Well, it is officially the first full week of classes at OSU. Welcome Week has come and gone, and everything seems to be settling down into the daily grind once more!
There is, however, one big change for me…and that is off-campus living!!! Like several of the other bloggers, I’ve made the big move and am learning to transition to off-campus life. Guess I’m a big girl now…
For those of you who don’t know, I’ve lived my last two years in Baker Hall West on south campus, and loved every minute of it. I LOVE THAT PLACE. Suffice it to say that I also wasn’t ready to leave. And I also really liked the idea of becoming an RA and getting to have a floor of my own, so I applied for a position. Sadly, I didn’t end up receiving an offer right away and got placed into the “alternate RA” pool – which was awesome, and I still got to take the RA course, but still disheartening.
I worked on campus this summer (SCH shout out in a coming post!), so I decided to just wait it out and see if I got an offer for an RA position before summer’s end. As the weeks passed, and my anxiety levels skyrocketed, I realized that my chances of getting an offer before school started were pretty slim. And at this point, I only had 3 weeks before move-in day. To put it in perspective…my roommate from last year solidified her lease in November. LAST YEAR. So….I looked something similar to this for a couple weeks:
And after looking at some teeny tiny boxes disguised as rooms and a couple super sketchy places (think amidst the boarded up windows with cats painted on them on the way to the fairgrounds…no offense if you live there; you’re just braver than I am!!), I finally came across a place with some really sweet girls that ended up being really close to campus and almost a perfect situation. It’s also painted cute colors, looks like it should be in a college apartment advertisement special, and I’m looking forward to becoming friends with the two girls who live here. I think I’ve already befriended the dog…yes, they have an adorable puppydog too :)
I promise to upload some pictures in a future post, once I paint my room & finish decorating! It’s crazy how quickly this all happened, mostly since I had very little time to prepare myself for it mentally. BUT. I can’t wait to start life living in my first ever apartment, and to keep you all updated on how it goes! HAPPY FIRST FULL WEEK :D
Because: I am still excited about getting to see them for the Welcome Week concert (thanks, OUAB!!) and I love country and it’s summer. So why not? :)
