As a second-semester junior, I can tell that I’m very settled into my routine. Generally I’m fine with this–I like having a routine of things I’m used to and that I enjoy. But I also realized that it’s been a while since I’ve tried anything outside of my routine, and I’m running out of time to do new things! That’s why I’m glad to report that this week, I’ve already done two new things to tell you about. I think that’s a great way to start the semester!
Here are my experiences:
On Martin Luther King Day, I made plans to hang out with my friend Megan. She suggested we go to
Kafe Kerouac to study. I had never been there, so I was excited to try it out! It was a really nice environment to hang out in, and it’s only a few minutes north of campus on High Street and Northwood Ave. They have plenty of tables to sit at and study, and they even sell books in addition to drinks and pastries!

Inspired by my time at Kafe Kerouac, I decided to try another new thing this week. Since it was so gorgeous outside, on Tuesday I decided to skip the RPAC and take a walk on the Olentangy Trail instead. A section of it is right behind Lincoln and Morrill Towers, so it was very accessible from campus. It was fun to take a break from some of my obligations and just have time to breathe the fresh air and get some exercise. I just had to make sure I stayed out of the way of all the bikers and runners who were also on the trail!
What new thing should I try next? A restaurant? A fitness class? A new study space? If you have ideas, let me know in the comments!
