“How I Set Your Mother,” intramural volleyball team

Two weeks ago, I spontaneously joined an intramural volleyball. While I stood in line during formal sorority rush, I made a new friend. This friend just so happened to be forming an intramural volleyball team and asked me to join. Intramurals were one of the few things on campus that I was not yet involved in; how could I say no? Although I already had way too much on my plate, I figured that joining a volleyball team would help me relieve stress and have fun after long days of studying.

I play on a coed team of four boys and three girls in the B League. Our team name took hours to come up with but we finally settled on “How I Set Your Mother,” punny, I know. We play at the Adventure Recreation Center, over on West Campus, on Tuesday nights.

Although it is “only” intramural volleyball, our team tends to get very competitive. We coordinate our outfits, plan out our rotations, and make up our own cheers. Needless to say, we are really gunning for those coveted t-shirts.

All of our hard work is paying off as we are headed into the playoffs with an undefeated record (all bragging intended). I would highly recommend joining an intramural sports team. You will make new friends, exercise, have fun, and possibly even win a championship t-shirt! Even if you don’t think that you have time, give it a try. Most teams are very flexible and will not interfere with your other extracurriculars. See you guys on the court!
