Free Sporting Events for the Best Fans in the Land!

Meeting Brutus at the hockey game!

We all know how important the rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State is. Students live for that cold Saturday game against TTUN (That Team Up North). That is why I am proud to say that this year I watched Ohio State beat Michigan not once, but twice! That’s strange, you might be thinking, Ohio State only played Michigan once during the football season? But here’s a fun fact for you all, Ohio State plays Michigan in every collegiate sport, every season. And the best part about Ohio State? Admission to all sporting events, besides football and basketball, are completely free to students!

Unlike other universities, Ohio State provides free admission to its students when they present their BuckID. Although many people believe that Buckeye Pride is centered around the football team, Ohio State is dedicated to supporting every one of their sports’ teams. Because of this, our school spirit is unlike any other.

On the ice after the game!

For me, having free sporting events means that I will never have a dull weekend. At Ohio State, there will always be a team playing somewhere on campus.  It has been great getting to see games and meets that I would not usually attend. This past week I attended the men’s B1G TEN swimming championship.  Last month I saw Katie Ladecky swim at our invitational. This weekend I saw Ohio State beat Michigan on the ice. All for free.

Free spirit towels for the “Beat ichigan Game”!

The hockey game did not disappoint. TBDBITL (The Best Damn Band in the Land) attends all of the home hockey games and performs all of its traditional football songs. They even made a script Ohio out on the ice! The game was filled with free t-shirts, free-food, and free rally towels. I even made it on the big screen (three times)! Finally, after the game, the team lets students go out on the ice and shoot a puck across the rink!

We even got to shoot a goal after the game!

There truly is no better university for the sports fan.

So prospective students, start freeing up your weekends to see your Buckeyes take down TTUN time and time again!
