One of the things I’ve been appreciating since coming back to Ohio State is being walking distance from the
Gateway Film Center. The Gateway Film Center shows many of the movies that regular movie theaters do, but they also show many independent films and documentaries, and host special events like Sensory Friendly movies where the volume is lowered and the lights are kept on.
This weekend, I went to see Ingrid Goes West at the Gateway with my friend Molly. We both loved the movie, and Molly was telling me that she’s a member of the Gateway, which means that for $25 a month, she gets to see unlimited movies and gets free popcorn each time she goes there. If you’re someone who loves to see tons of movies, this sounds like a great option to have so close to campus!
Even if you’re like me and only see the occasional movie, the Gateway still has deals for you: if you show them your BuckID, you can get a discounted student ticket to movies. And if you didn’t fill up on popcorn during the movie, there are lots of restaurants right near the Gateway that you can check out after your movie.
So next time you and your friends are looking for something to do over the weekend, I highly recommend checking out the Gateway Film Center. Whether you’re seeing a big hit movie or an obscure documentary, it’s a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
