Reflecting on My First Semester of College

 Written by    December 8, 2017

I cannot believe I’m almost halfway through my first year of college! Time really does fly when you’re having fun! I’ve experienced a ton of change since moving to Columbus in August, but I can’t imagine myself anywhere else. I would like to reflect on everything I’ve experienced so far.

The Beginning

Looking back, I have to say the first couple weeks of the semester were a little rough. I became very close with some of my high school friends over the summer, and it was really difficult not being able to see them everyday. As much as I wanted to leave home, I actually missed my family a ton! My life seemed to change so drastically in such a short amount of time. Slowly, I became more and more comfortable living in my new home.

Making Friends

Perhaps I’m just a friendly person, but I found it incredibly easy to make new friends here at Ohio State. There’s really nothing special about it; you just starting talking to people wherever you are. I was extremely lucky and met several of my good friends on the very first day. We were all in the same group in our survey class, and we were actually forced to talk to one another. Something clicked and we’ve been really close ever since!

Classes

Surprisingly, I haven’t found college classes to be too much harder than classes I took in high school. I have so much respect for my professors because many of them really do care about my success. At first, it was really strange having different classes everyday. But now everyday is a mini adventure. Having midterms/exams throughout the semester can get stressful at times. But you learn to develop time management skills rather quickly.

Football

There is nothing quite like being in the Horseshoe and watching the Buckeyes! The stadium is HUGE and totally awesome! I don’t regret purchasing the full season package, it was totally worth the money! If I was unable to attend a game, I had no trouble selling my ticket. I really enjoy watching everyone come together to celebrate our passion for football. I don’t believe there’s a school out there with more spirit than Ohio State; we truly love our Buckeyes!

Ohio State vs. Illinois

As exam week approaches, I couldn’t be happier with where I’ve ended up. I absolutely love this school and wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’ve learned so much about myself in just a few short months. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve experienced so far, and I cannot wait for the spring semester! As always,

Go Bucks!
