John Mulaney? In Person?

 Written by    January 16, 2018

Back in June, I found out that one of my favorite comedians, John Mulaney, would be coming to Columbus as part of his national Kid Gorgeous tour. I was even more excited when I found out that he would be performing at Mershon Auditorium on campus–just a five-minute walk away from my building! I quickly bought tickets with my friend Jason, and thus began seven long months of anticipation that finally ended on Saturday night.

I have found all three of Mulaney’s comedy specials hilarious, so my expectations were set high for his show, but he did not disappoint. We were sitting high up on the balcony in Mershon, so while we could not see all of his mannerisms very well, all we needed was to be able to hear him tell stories about school assemblies and shamelessly getting a stroller for his dog in order for it to be a successful night. I was impressed at how much energy he had after being on tour for six months, acting out jokes and impressions on stage for more than an hour and a half. He even did a second show later that night because so many people wanted tickets! Seeing John Mulaney live was a great way to spend my first weekend of second semester.
