OSU 7th Annual Divalicious Drag Show

    By Taylor | April 27, 2012

What more do you need to say about an Ohio State Drag Show if just plenty of pictures are shown? Here’s a sneak peek:

So, where to start with this year’s Ohio State Drag Show. History, you got it.

The OSU Divalicious Drag Show started seven years ago in the Mack Hall cafeteria (now formally known as Kennedy Commons). There were professional drag queens present as well as those students who chose the opportunity to either express themselves in a way they never could or just have some fun in costume and perform. This show was held in this cafeteria with less than 40 attendees and the runway was made out of cafeteria tables. Now it has transformed and upgraded into the extravagant and “divalicious” show that it is in the Archie Griffin Grand Ballroom in the Ohio Union.

This year the OSU Drag Show was headed by hall director of Mack Hall, Mary Anne Wilk, and RA’s Bryan Barthelmas and Grace Raderstorf.

    Bryan and Grace.

This is the 7th year, 2nd year under Bryan’s direction, and the show was held in the Archie Griffin Grand Ballroom in the Union on April 20, 2012 at 7pm. After seven years, the show managed to host 600 attendees on this day.

Why did this make me nervous? Oh, I didn’t tell you?

I was in the Drag Show.

That’s right. I dressed, acted and performed as Justin Bieber at this year’s drag show. Bryan convinced me to do it.

Now, I don’t really know how to describe in words the exhilaration I got by being another character and performing in front of 600 people. This feeling doesn’t have a name. But I can show you pictures and try to exhaust  my thoughts. Sound like a plan?

Here’s the beginning of the show while people were coming in.

Those are men on the ends. Pretty impressive I must say.

Another group of girls performing Soulja Boy.

Me and another performer, Molly Heinmiller.

Now, to your right is Ludacris (Hannah Weber), who was also in my performance since I (lip) sang and danced to “Baby” ft. Ludacris. To your left, yeah that’s my boyfriend. Weird, right?

    Ludacris and I.

Now this is where my scary yet absolutely exciting performance comes in.

    My personal favorite.

And then Luda (Hannah) came out once her rap started. The crowd went NUTS.
Oh an that’s me attempting Bieber-esque in the background.

IF those pictures are not satisfactory, there is a video. Yes, a video of the entire performance. Which I am willing to share with you below.
