My First All-Nighter of College
By Julia S. | September 24, 2012
It finally happened… I had to pull my first all-nighter last week. To be honest though, I’m kind of surprised it didn’t happen sooner, so hurray for making it this far!
So how did this come about? First off, last Monday was the kickoff to midterm week month season. Secondly, call it a rookie mistake with caffeine. I almost never drink caffeine, but sophomore year has brought new academic challenges, and so at 1:00 a.m., I decided it was necessary to fuel up. But turns out it was needed though, because I really was doing homework until about 6:30 a.m. Then what did I do to bridge the time between then and my 8 a.m. class? Well, I exercised, of course. The RPAC opens at 5:45 a.m., so it worked out quite peachy. Although, I’m pretty sure I passed some sort of terrifying possum-badger-raccoon hybrid animal walking over there. So there’s a reason to avoid (i.e., sleep through) any time that is still considered waking hours for nocturnal animals.
Rude Awakening: Sophomore slump. I have it, and so do a lot of my friends. Oh, dear. Perseverance!
Pleasant Surprise: I’m finally registered to vote!
In firm friendship,
Julia Rose S.

Excellent post. When I was teaching pre-licensing clseass for real estate, I told my adult students that their enemy was the anxiety. The info is all there if they paid attention in class and did the work. They just need to access it during the test! Anxiety is like a wall between them and the information!
