I’m one of those people who loves fall. I love when it gets colder, the leaves change, football season is in full swing, and all seems right in the world. Then before you know it, it’s one of my favorite holidays: Halloween. I love dressing up as something crazy (last year I was Jeff Bridges’ character from “The Big Lebowski”) and I love scary movies. Now, I don’t have to go very far to watch some great ones, thanks to Gateway.
Gateway Film Center puts on a mini film fest every October called Hitchcocktober. Every week, they show an Alfred Hitchock movie on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. On Thursday, a friend and I went to “North by Northwest”. They’re showing “Vertigo” October 5-11, “The Birds” from the 12th-18th, “Rear Window” from the 19th-25th, and “Psycho” from October 26th-November 1st.
It was great! They also had lots of seasonal food and drinks at the snack bar so you can get your fill of apple or pumpkin flavored everything while you sit back for a good thriller.
Check out http://gatewayfilmcenter.com/ for more info and to see all the other great movies showing there. I’m really looking forward to seeing “The Perks of Being A Wallflower” (based on the book by Stephen Chbosky), as well as “Argo” when it comes out next week.
And I almost forgot to mention: Gateway also puts on “Nightmares on High Street”, showing movies that are just way too scary for me. But maybe you’re braver. Either way, I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time at Gateway this month!
