I know I’ve been absent for awhile; the last time I blogged was February 14th, when I told you all about my COTA bus adventure. Shortly after that, however, things in my life sort of turned upsidedown, if you know what I mean. While I will spare you the details, I wanted to share some wisdom that I’ve gained during this past month.
I believe it is a necessary piece of knowledge to have when going to college, for all you prospective freshman out there. Really, it applies to everyone, so listen up.
Follow Your Dreams.
Yes, that’s it. That’s my advice. Have you heard that before? Well, you really need to know what it means.
My “practically-second-parents,” Nadine and Gary, gave me an angel ornament with this phrase inscribed on it; they said to me, “This is to remind you to follow YOUR dreams, not anybody else’s.” To be honest, I never knew what they meant until now.
YOUR dreams. Not your parent’s, your significant other’s, your dog’s, your grandma’s, or anybody else’s dreams. YOURS. Don’t let anybody take that away from you. Don’t EVER give that up.
Enjoy your life. Enjoy friends and family. Enjoy your hobbies. Enjoy your classes.
And make all those things you enjoy your very own choices, made by nobody else but you.
Learn this now. I promise you, it is the best advice you’ll ever hear, and I’m just passing it along.
