Relief for Yifan Gu

 Written by    April 7, 2013

You might recognize the name Yifan Gu. She is a fellow Buckeye who was tragically injured last fall by a cyclist and has been in a coma since. The Lantern wrote an article about her last fall and UWeekly just recently wrote an article about her too. As in any situation like this, Yifan’s family is in need of relief. The complications of being a foreign student with parents living abroad are easy to imagine and only add stress to an already tragic situation. To help address some of these issues, a fundraising website has been established to help Yifan and her family out.

I personally don’t know Yifan, but I was able to visit her last fall. I was immediately impressed by all her friends who dutifully helped Yifan’s mother out around the clock. I can’t imagine what it’s like being injured overseas away from my family and home, nor can I imagine what it is like for Yifan’s family.

Again, here is the website and donations are open until June 14th.
