Summer plans

 Written by    April 20, 2013

Finals are fast approaching! I still can’t believe that in just 1 week, I’ll have finished my freshman year of college.

So, now summer will be here. In high school, summers were not as relaxing because I always had summer English homework. But I’m really looking forward to my first college summer.

I’ll be in Columbus, conducting research in the Nutrition department, and hopefully volunteer at some food pantries. But there’s also a lot going on in Columbus in the summer.

For those of you staying in Cbus, here are some suggestions for fun things to do:

1. Columbus Food Truck Fest

August 16-17th

The food truck fest features 40 vendors from Columbus, held at Columbus Commons. Sounds like a pretty cool event, especially since Columbus has become so well known for food trucks!

2. Columbus Arts Festival

June 7-9

Held at the Riverfront in Downtown Columbus, the place becomes an outdoor art gallery. Gourmet food, live bands, and hands-on activities are part of the whole event!

3. The Summer Movie Series, hosted by the Ohio Theatre

June 15-August 12

The 42nd annual Summer Movie Series, held by CAPA, will take place at the Ohio Theatre. Films from all eras and genres will be featured. Strips of 10 tickets can be purchased for $25. Individual film tickets are $4.

Well, these are just a couple of fun things to do around Columbus. Of course, tons of bands will be playing in the city. Baseball will be in season. Jeni’s is always open.

There’s an entire city to explore. Get out there!
