Academic mentorship, support and resources

At Ohio State, you’ll have a circle of support when you need it.

Help along the way

You may not know exactly what to major in, how to handle that tough stats class, or best practices for job interviews. Don't stress: we've got you covered.

Find a major you love

With hundreds of majors, as well as specializations and minors, Ohio State is ready to match your brainpower to the best course of study you can find. Not sure what to major in? You're in the right place: with so many options, you're sure to find your fit.

Academic mentorship

The Ohio State professors who teach the courses for your major are invaluable assets — and potential mentors. They’re the best in their fields, and they’re well connected to the people and opportunities (internships, research, etc.) that will take your interests and classroom work to a higher level.

Academic help and tutoring

Master a tough subject, get feedback on a paper or discuss research strategies with the help of university offices such as the Math and Statistics Learning Center, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Writing Center, and University Libraries.

Course and degree planning

Ohio State students often have multiple academic advisors, including professors and professional staff. This approach means you can get advice from someone who is really involved in the program, who knows the ins and outs of requirements, courses and your field of study.

Career planning

Students start thinking early about career or graduate school preparation. Your college's career office is your front line: they'll help you prepare for career fairs, interviews and graduate school applications. Buckeye Careers offers a job and internship database that can be tailored to your interests. Haven’t decided on a career? Career Counseling and Support Services can assist with that.

Wellness

It’s common for college students to experience social or personal growing pains — and Ohio State's ready to help them. We're committed to the mental health and well-being of our community, so we've made it easy to find support. Students can quickly explore resources through the Ohio State: Wellness app.

First Year Experience Peer Leaders are upperclass students who know the ropes of making the transition to college life. You'll meet yours at Orientation.
