Marketing is the management of exchange processes that satisfy individual and organizational objectives. The study of marketing includes the process of planning and implementing the conception, pricing, promotion and delivery of the ideas, goods and services involved in these exchanges. In addition to required marketing course work, students have the opportunity to select a track of courses from the areas of research analyst, sales client management, communications or product development.
Common responsibilities within marketing include personal selling, sales force management, promotional strategy, product design, marketing research and customer service.
First-year business students admitted to the Columbus campus enter the college through the Fisher pre-major program or are directly admitted to the major program.

Though internships are not required for business students, 95 percent of students registered with the Office of Career Management have some kind of internship experience before they graduate. Many students receive an offer of full-time employment from their internship employer.
Honors students majoring in business, have the option of applying for and participating in one of four Honors programs (Accounting Honors, Finance Honors, Honors Cohort, Honors Immersion) or an Honors research project. Each option provides the opportunity to graduate with a diploma designation.
Entering freshman admitted to University Honors will be invited to apply to the Integrated Business and Engineering Honors Program and the Business Honors Learning Community.
The Business Scholars Program is a community of talented students that participate in programs and activities designed to offer insight into business practice and environment. Business Scholars learn to understand the vital role of collaboration through teambuilding, leadership training and workshops. Additionally, Business Scholars can develop partnerships with Fisher College of Business faculty and alumni.
The Undergraduate Leadership & Engagement Office connects Fisher students with opportunities to enhance leadership competencies, develop professional preparedness, and connect with their chosen industry and the Fisher community.
Additionally, Fisher is home to more than 35 student organizations that focus on academics, diversity, common business topics and more.
Marketing jobs are available in situations such as manufacturers and channel of distribution members such as retailers and wholesalers. Providers of many types of services, including health care, financial services (including banking), travel, legal services, and information services, also hire marketing executives. Not-for-profit organizations also have marketing professionals.
Many marketing graduates begin their careers in sales and customer service. This experience enables them to develop the knowledge of customer needs and wants, customer buying processes and their competition. This knowledge enables the marketing graduate to quickly move to greater sales responsibility or responsibility over the broader range of marketing issues within the organization. This can also lead to general management responsibility for the organization’s total operation.
Beginning salaries for marketing professionals in 2016–17 averaged $49,600 depending on applicants’ training, education and experience.
At graduation, Fisher College of Business graduates:
